In place of prongs, upright flat posts of sterling silver grip each stone from its sides only. A post stands between a round center and each lab-grown diamond side stone, and another closes off each end of the row, so the stone tops and the gaps between posts stay open to light. The center, chosen in the next step, is the largest in the line. Underneath, the shank is smooth and polished with a slightly flat profile.
