A rectangle, mostly air.
Each stud is a tall rectangle of polished metal with softly rounded corners and edges. A emerald-cut lab-grown diamond lies sideways across the top of it, its edges tucked right against the inner rim and supported from beneath by a slim metal ledge, so no prongs show. Below the stone, the frame is simply open. From the side, the whole piece stays shallow and close to the ear.
